Jen: You’re eating kimchi? I thought you didn’t like it at all!
Jason: I didn’t like it when I first tried it. However after eating it a couple of more times, it has grown on me.
Jen: I knew the taste of kimchi would grow on you someday.

본문에서 제가 Jason에게 “You’re eating kimchi? I thought you didn’t like it at all! 라고 묻자, Jason이 “I didn’t like it when I first tried it. However after eating it a couple of more times, it has grown on me.

그러자 저도 “I knew the taste of kimchi would grow on you someday. Now keep today’s expression ‘grow on you’ in mind and let’s hear the conversation again.

Jen: You’re eating kimchi? I thought you didn’t like it at all!
Jason: I didn’t like it when I first tried it. However after eating it a couple of more times, it has grown on me.
Jen: I knew the taste of kimchi would grow on you someday.

Today’s expression is grow on you. If someone or something grows on you, you like it more and more than you did at first and you appreciate it more.

“I didn’t like it when I first tried it. However after eating it a couple of more times, it has grown on me.”

Now that you know what today’s expression means, let’s listen to the conversation for the last time.

Jen: You’re eating kimchi? I thought you didn’t like it at all!
Jason: I didn’t like it when I first tried it. However after eating it a couple of more times, it has grown on me.
Jen: I knew the taste of kimchi would grow on you someday.

Let’s review what we have learned today. When you begin to like something or somebody more and more, you can say that it’s growing on me. GROW ON YOU. GROW ON ME. GROWING ON HIM/HER. Now try using this expression on your own.
