오늘의 영어 표현은: So many opportunities.
When I think of that word, opportunity, 저는 ‘opportunity’이란 단어를 생각할 때면 I am reminded of how so many people view the United States as the ‘land of opportunity’ 많은 사람들이 미국을 기회의 땅으로 여기는 게 떠오릅니다.

There are so many opportunities here in America! 미국에서 자란 제가 봐도 미국은 역시 기회의 땅이라는 생각이 듭니다.

미국 학생들은 새학기가 시작되면 무척 들뜹니다. 왜냐하면요 미국 학교에서는 다양한 공부를 할 수있는 기회가 많거든요.

Colleges here in America make classroom experiences more creative. 미국대학 교수님들은 학생들이 창의적이 되도록 도와주고요. 교실을 떠나서 여러가지 교육적인 목적에 활동들을 할 수 있게 해줍니다.

Well let’s hear why Erin is excited to study in America! 오늘의 영어 표현인 so many opportunities가 어떻게 쓰이는지 알아보기 전에 제가 Erin과 함께 대화한 것을 먼저 들려드릴게요. Listen carefully!

Jen: What do you think is the most exciting thing about going to school in America?
Erin: I mean you have so many opportunities of different choices of what you could do. And if you really like doing something, you can find somewhere to do it.
Jen: And as a freshman, you are excited for that?
Erin: Yes, I mean anything you want to do, you can do here.

제가 Erin에게, “미국에서 공부하는게 왜 좋아요?” 라고 물어봤더니, You have so many opportunities of different choices of what you could do. ‘정말 하고 싶은 공부를 마음껏 할 수 있고요 Anything you want to do, you can do here! 라고 대답하더라고요.

오늘의 영어 표현은: So many opportunities 이죠? Opportunity는 ‘기회’라는 뜻입니다. 그래서 ‘So many’ 아주 많은 ‘opportunities’ 기회, so many opportunities 하면, 아주 많은 기회라는 뜻이죠?

Erin은 You have so many opportunities of different choices of what you could do 라고 했습니다. 그럼 대화를 다시 들어보겠습니다.
