저는 얼마 전에 워씽톤 DC 길거리에서 제가 다녔던 조지타운 대학 티셔츠를 입고 있는 사람을 봤는데요. 보자마자 저도 조지타운대 출신이라고 했더니 그 사람은 거리낌 없이 조지타운대학 구호를 외치더라고요. 그리고 저와 그 사람은 아주 즐거운 대화를 나눴습니다. 제게는 대학시절의 추억이 떠오르는 이야기였습니다.

Jen: What are you studying there? How long have you been and what’s the environment like at school?

Grace: I mean I’m a senior in the college. I am an American Studies major and I love Georgetown. So all things good!

Grace: Specifically, I love my major. American Studies is a really close-knit group. I love all of the campus activities, I love living in D.C., I love living in Georgetown and I like everything about it.

제가 Grace 에게 ‘조지타운 대학교에서 무엇을 전공하고 또 학교 분위기는 어떤지 물어봤더니, Grace 는 아주 기분 좋은 목소리로 ‘미국학을 전공하고 있는 대학 4학년이고 조지타운 대학을 무척 사랑해요!’라고 하더라고요.

제가 ‘조지타운 대학교가 왜 그렇게 좋으냐고 물어봤더니, ‘Specifically, I love my major. 제가 전공하는 과목을 아주 좋아하고요 American Studies is a really close-knit group 학과 분위기가 아주 좋아서예요. 학생들끼리 가족처럼 가깝게 지내거든요’라고 하더라고요.
